WOW, thats a good way to start a 2 nighter at SPAC. Whenever they open a show with pig you know its going to be good. it was a great show from start to finish, 3 debuts!!! I heard them sound check WYA so i figured it would come today or tomrrow, but was NOT expecting it mid set last night.

so that was a surprise, then going right into Typical next?!?! that was def a highlight from the show. first time i heard it live and it was amazing. the jam got so intense. and i dont care what you think about rayshawn, but man, i think he adds a lot to the band. i really liked him on typical during the jam.

not to mention that bartender and jimi were the best versions i personally have ever heard. it was a great show, and i cant wait for tonight!!

This concert was headed in the right direction from the start. The party started early and went late. The band came on and began with Pig, then hitting on every studio album from the beggining to the end. My personal favorite section was Proudest Monkey->Sattelite Big Eyed Fish->Bartender. 3 song encores always work for me too. Worth the price of admission and five times over.

pretty ho-hum predictable set it was very mellow and not much to dance to i felt like i was trapped in a blender with molasses and the 2003/4 tour i didn't feel a lot of energy at the show, but that's just me.

Pig - alright.. but didn't they open with this last year and the year before? seemed like it. Everyday - great sing a long but it just seemed slow and mleh Don’t Drink the Water - boring intro.. again.. slow and dredged Grey Street - ugh Proudest Monkey - waited and waited for Carter to do his thing.. never happened (or was I sleeping if it did?) Satellite - seriously? ugh. Big Eyed Fish - wow .. 3 slow songs in a row.. they are probably going to knock our socks off next song, better go have a smoke. Bartender - at this point my socks were still on. Yeah nice screaming and what not and I love seeing Roi but other than that, not much going on. What You Are - haven't heard this one at SPAC at least 3 other times Typical Situation - ok sweet. i can finally cross full bald TS off my list of need to hear. Dancing Nancies - ho-hum Break Free - interesting.. if Lover Lay Down was a pop song (non-lyrically), this would be it Where Are You Going? - I'm going to sit down, that's where I'm going. Jimi Thing - Other than Butches scat/solo this song was ho-hum run of the mill.. seen it at Central Park Louisiana Bayou - one that we could actually dance to! I was too tired to dance by now.. i had to take a leak. ------------ Sister - it made me sneeze. JTR - finally! Stay - left.

I probably won't go see DMB again unless i can score a seat for 20 bucks like I did last night. (thanks Mike.) The best part of the day was hanging out with my friends and acquaintances that I only get to see once a year at DMB shows.

this show was easily one of the best ive ever been to..pig is always a nice way to start a show espescially going into everyday/36 which has been their encore for the last few shows ive been to. typical situation dancing nancies and bartender were great to hear live espescially when the band rocked them out for over fifteen minutes each.

i thought the bands new song break free sounded great live and that it sounded like their older stuff..

the best part about the show was that just when you thought the band was finishing their set (i thought the set was over after dancing nancies), the band rocked out four more songs plus a sick three song encore.

for me the highlights were typical situation, dancing nancies, bartender, grey street, and louisiana bayou..i thought it was the best louisiana bayou ive ever heard (sounded somewhat like the version from night on the rocks). the encore was descent but stay wasnt that great, warehouse would have been much better..

been a matthews fan for a while. he lost me after everyday, but i decided to relive old times and hit up the spac shows this summer...had to get outta albany, hehe. one of the best shows ive ever been too. i went to second night too but this night was so much better, had to do a review for this one. i thought i was gonna get disappointed but they really blew me away. the whole band just was on point. just like the old days. rashawn ross on trumpet is a great addition too. ive seen him wit soulive and lettuce. hes nasty. seen em open with PIG at spac before, it was a tight opener. then to possibly one of the sickest runs in any setlist ive been too. DDTW, GREY STREET, PROUDEST MONKEY, SATELLITE, BIG EYED FISH, BARTENDER....all versions were sick sick sick. WHAT YOU ARE....meh, not a huge fan. then back to the sickness...nastiest TYPICAL SITUATION ever. the jam was so tight. NANCIES was ridiculous. Boyd is a madman, his soloing was just beautiful all night. they just kept breakin out everything i would want to hear. BREAK FREE and WAYG were a cool. i liked BREAK FREE. WAYG...bathroom break. then JIMI THING, man this was another special part of the set. they just went nuts with the jams on this one. rashawn ross was ridiculous. i like BAYOU a lot for some reason, i dont know why. just got that raw matthews sound to it. nice version. and then what a nasty nasty encore. but am i the only one that wish it were STAY then JTR, hehe. either way i was so pumped when he went into JTR, one of my personal favorite matthews tunes, and a sick version too. STAY was right from the radio, but good to hear. i dont know what it was about first night but as soon as i got there i knew it was gonna be nasty. it was a typical beautiful cool summer night at spac. crowd was so pumped, and the energy level from band and crowd was huge. everything came together this night. this show has put me right back into the old matthews listening groove. thankyou dmb and spac for another great weekend to remember. back to albany son, AIIIIIIGHT!!! P.S. - it was great to see all my albany townie ballers. if u read this u know who it is, gimme a shot. PUFF TUFF KIDS!!!
