Coming to you from th webtv at the hotel across from the Polaris Ampitheatre: Delores if you read this, I hope your car is fixed and that you found tickets, i had to sell them really cheap to some bastard on a bike, good luck getting back to Virginia To our surprise Me'Shell's set finished really early, only a 25 minute set. She ended abruptly it seemed at 7:25pm, and the boys took the stage shortly after 8pm. Amazing Show, definitely one of my favorites, Dave was all smiles, and everyone seemed happy to be there. Opening with Warehouse appropriately, the show was nearly 3 hours long ending just before 11pm. Highlights: DANCING NANCIES -- It's about time! The new songs were incredible. Sweet Up and Down should definitely be the first single, very funky and solid. The same goes for Grey Street, Bartender was nice, similiar beat to DDTW, jammed out the ending and gradually faded out. Digging a Ditch was pretty much like the acoustic with a steady drumbeat and a few new lyrics. Dave broke a string during Too Much, and ended up switching guitars 3 times during the song, all of the new songs featured the 12-string guitar except Digging a Ditch, he also used it for DDTW All and All AN AMAZING SHOW, everyone was on, and dave welcomed everyone to the first show of the new millenium

Great show in most respects. Lousy crowd, no one really paying attention. Jimi Thing's jam was boring as hell though, they did some off that shit that was on Listener Supported, kinda dull, really. The new songs sounded great. Why did they pick DDTW of all things? Everyone moaned when the lights went up after Two Step, must have been expecting something else. Lie in our Graves was alright, although Boyd's solos were rather disappointing. Just, not interesting. The show started to take off after Dancing Nancies, but they killed the momentum with the 3-5 minute pauses between songs. Dave changed guitars twice during Two Much, Boyd covered well. That was fun. Great energy and cool jams in general, but the show just died when they weren't playing. Part their fault, partly the crowds. Alas. Better show tomorrow night? We can hope. Hopefully a better set-list too. Need more interesting songs.

Ok, to start off, the sound was very poor to start out with, it got better later in the show...Warehouse, pretty good version...same as most i've heard though, WWYS, he did something weird, he started to sing the first verse and stopped 3 times before really starting, #41 was a good version, but it was sandwiched between the wrong two songs...SMTS,new little intro, very similar to "stop time" in warehouse, started and stopped a few times, really nice to hear without ASTB->too much, Dancing Nancies, no "could i have been lost someone in columbus" :*(, NOW, NEW STUFF!! Sweet up and down, it was GREAT!!! YOU HAVE TO HEAR THIS SONG!!! DDTW, could have lived without, but a good version none the less, Typical Situation...it was good, had the little intro thing and all that, nice jam in the middle, Grey Street, another new one, and an awesome on at that, dave used at 12 string on this one. LIOG, pretty standard, did a funny thing before the "i can't believe..." part, he started to walk to the mic, turned around and walked back, and then walked to the mic to sing it. then too much, very standard except in the middle he broke a string right before the "macho god" part, and delayed that a while, although the crowd sang it anyway. next was bartender, sounds sooo different with the whole band, and it has a new verse...totally awesome!!! somewhere around here, LeRoi took off his sunglasses, i've never seen him without...very cool!! Jimi Thing, Dave had the best solo in it i've EVER heard him play!!! Tripping Billies was very cool and had a lot of word changes! then the encore....Diggin' a ditch, was very different with the whole band and very cool! lots of new words to it...and then finished off with two step which i thought was an amazing version!!! the band looks different,...dave's hairline looks receding, Roi had a beard, and boyd's hair is really short again...carter and stephan look the same as much as i could tell, well, back again tomorrow!! Very worth the money and can't wait till tomorrow!!!

Well...after numerous "Thank you very much's", a few English accents, and 4 new songs! the first show of the year 2000 is complete. One word can describe the atmosphere of tonight at Polaris...Energy! The band was up and pumped for the show...there were a few slip up's but hey it's the first show in quite some time. Here's the run down: Warehouse with the stop time was a nice beginning to a great night. WWYS was full of energy with Dave dancing all over the stage. Dave also repeated the first line about three times before going into the song? #41 was the typical jam version except Dave threw in a new verse (or maybe he slipped up?)...nice solo by LeRoi. SMTS...I was disappointed the the baby jam and Too Much didn't follow...oh well. Dancing Nancies...great, full of energy...did I hear a "Could I be lost somewhere in Polaris" ?? I think I did. Awesome face off between Dave and Boyd, jamming back and forth! First new song, Sweet You Up & Down, it's a high energy funky love song. DDTW was normal version, nothing too special about this one...though the lighting was excellent. Typical Situation!!! My first time hearing this live...and with the jam in the middle with the They Might Be Giants song Istambul...excellent, one of the high points of the night. The next new song, Dave gave a title but I couldn't hear it...another up beat song about a girl...I heard she prays a lot in the song? Lie In Our Graves was excellent and jammed way out. Too Much got the crowd jumping around as always...and the "Suck it up's" I don't think those started with an "S" haha. Dave also had guitar string problems during this song. My personal high light of the night, about a 10 minute full band version of Bartender...excellent with the entire band. New verse added since the acoustic tour. Next came Jimi Thing, sounded like it was straight off of Listener Supported, nice funk outro. Tripping Billies was a great closer with the light show at full blast! Encore...Dave came out and said since we had been so kind, he had a present for us...Diggin' a Ditch. It sounds ten times better with the entire band. Two Step to close the night...great intro and tons of drive to the song. I only have one complant about the night...why did it have to end! Oh yeah, and the parking at Polaris is horrid! Those that were there will know what I am talking about. Well, another great DMB night...One more to go at Polaris...see you there!

the band came out and surprised everyone with warehouse. this was the usual jam and then went into what would you say. these two songs set the atmosphere for the whole evening. as dave said "this is the first gig of the millenium for dmb, it was special. they then continued and played #41 and don't drink the water. they busted out a new tune called swing up, swing down. it was cool to hear something different. they then played the best song of the evening, typical situation. during this great tune about life, they started to play like a totally different song. they then ended it as they usually d this got the audience excited and knowing this evening was going to pull out the big guns early. they played another song off of the new album and then played lie in our graves. this song hit right when the sun was totally out of the sky. during this song the whole crowd raised all of their lighters and sung along with dave. Boyd was amasing tonight!!! He had a solo in almost every song. They played Bartender, which is on the new album. they closed with tripping billies which was amasing as usual. the encore songs were digging a ditch and two step. digging a ditch was a total shock. Two step went on for like 14 minutes of jamming. this concert was a great way to start of the tour.

Howdy everyone from all around. I was just at the Opening Tour of 2000!!!!! Teeee heeee heeeee! This show was off the walls the whole time! Boyd was on fire the whole night. Dave also danced like a wild man, and even Stefan did his little thing a little. Well first of all, they opened with Warehouse. It was a pretty good version of it, but it was awesome when Carter's drum part came in for the Stop Time Intro. It was sweet. Then What Would You Say. I went nuts. Who would have guessed?? That is crazy. It was awesome. Dave danced like a mad man during the jam. The next song was #41. Whats up with the new verse at the end???? I liked it though. So Much To Say was next. It was a pretty cool version, but they all kinda sound the same. The guitar intro was a little funky. DANCING NANCIES!!!!!! Oh my GOD!! It was the best version of that song I have ever heard. He might have said "Could I have been lost somewhere at Polaris" but I'm not too sure, because the original lyrics were Paris and it kinda sounds like Polaris. Sweet Up and Down was a sweet song. I liked it a lot. Dont Drink the Water was pretty standard. Dave played the new 12 string on that. I was hoping for a scream on the last verse of "Yes I will call this home" but its ok. Typical Situation was so much better than I thought it would be. It was a beautiful song! Grey Street was pretty good too. The next song was the best version of Lie In Our Graves that I have ever heard. Definetly a turning point in the show. Boyd and Dave were goin nuts. IT was sweet. Everyone pulled out there lighters for the slow part of the jam after Boyd's solo. Totally amazing. Then Too Much. Haaaa Haaaa Haaaa. Dave cracked me up on this because he broke a string so he switched guitars, and then he broke on another guitar and it looked like he was gonna chuck it like 20 feet but the crew dude was there. He took so long with the guitars that he missed a verse but later picked it up. I really thought it was cool when on the "Suck it up" part he said "F*** it up" a lot of times. Bartender was next. It was kinda strange with Boyd starting it out with a long held out note, but it was cool. Jimi Thing!!!!!! This was an awesome Jimi Thing. He said some new lyrics at 2 spots. Instead of the "Sometimes I take a walk there, sometimes I take a bus (taxi) there" He said something totally different. He was makin funny faces though. The outro was awesome. Next was Tripping Billies. This was intense!!! Everyone loved this. He added some new lyrics to this too, either that or he forgot the old ones and made something up as he went (Which is probablly what happened) It was the best closer. Tons of energy everywhere. The Encore was great. Diggin a Ditch is a beautiful song. Two Step??????? Who would have thought of this??? It was amazing!!! The outro was so pumped up. At the end Dave started going NUTS. He was dancing like no other. I seriously have never seen him dance like that before!!!!! He was bouncing off the walls. All in all, this was the best DMB show that I have been to so far out of 4. THis was full of energy and a lot of Dave Speak. It's all good. I'll see everyone at the Riverbend shows!!!!! BAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

The band seemed to be glad to be back on the road after a long break, to record a "new (not to be heard for a few months) album". The jams were funky and original and the new songs were terrific. Playing only one song from BTCS was also a plesant surprise. Carter smiled most of the show and Leroi was his usual himself hiding in the background, but delivering full and solid beats from those horns. If you had any fears that the bands sound would change on the new album, you are worng. Look for the boys to continue that great virgina sound for many years to come.

Wow!!! They rocked. Wareouse was a surprise opener, but it rocked. Boyd seemed a little out of it until Nancies, but there he started to catch on fire. Dave changed the last verse to #41, I couldn't understand them though.Nancies was a good song to get the crowd into it, Boyd lit the place up. SUSD was pretty good, it'll be a great song on the new album. Typ Sit had an awesome jam in the middle that I've only heard on a couple of other shows. I loved Grey St. LIOG!!!!!!! It was awesome. Best version I've heard since 6.3.99 at Starlake. Boyd rocked here too. Too Much kept the crowd into it, but I wanted to hear the ASTB intro, oh well. Bartender was slowed down A LOT. I liked the Dave and Timmy version a lot better. But it got mellow mood going. Billies was really good. Great show. Now, Diggin A Ditch rocked. Dave's voice soared. I really love what they did to this song. Two Step was the norm. I thought they dragged it out a little too much though. I'd get a copy of this show if you have the chance. Two thumbs up.

Well I had been waiting for this one for a while, much like a lot of people, and did not walk away dissapointed. I was suprised that it took so long for them to break into the new material, but after Nancies when we saw him with the 12 string, we knew something was coming. Sweet Up and Down is a really cool tune, and I'm thinking that I'm definitely going to like this one. Grey Street is a little more melo, and it seems that they are building this one for Roi, even letting him bust out the clarinet. The new Bartender was cool, but the jam portion at the end is definitely going to evolve eventually. It seemed like they were just waiting for someone to take off at the end, and nobody did. Diggin a Ditch is one that I could have done without, wasn't one of my favorite D&T's, and doesn't seem to have a lot of flavor to it full band either. But basically this was Boyd's show. He went off during Nancies, as always. But this might have been the best Lie In that I have ever seen. He started out playing to Dave, then Dave yielded and he took center staging and played for what seemed like a good 5-6 minutes. All in all, a good kickoff for the summer shows. I'm looking forward to my other shows to see how the new stuff evolves.

First of all, let me just say this year's tour opener was much better than last year's in Tampa. Started with Warehouse which got the crowd going a bit. The usual stop time version, I'm kinda waitin for them to experiment with the song a bit. A great opener, though. Next was WWYS, which kept the old-school feeling alive. 41 was one of the highlights for me. Changed the words up a bit toward the end. SMTS provided the crowd with a faster pace, although I was unpleased. You can only hear that song so many times, although the beginning tease was good. Then, at last, Dancing Nancies. One of the few I'd never heard live, I can honestly say it was worth the wait. Was hoping for some Davespeak before Could I have been a parking lot attendant. Sweet Up and Down was nice, although a lotta people sat down for it. Too bad for them. I just hope it doesn't get played out on the radio like we've seen in the past. The streak is alive; I've seen DDTW at every concert I've been to. Because of this, I guess I'm a bit critical and this definitely was not one of their better ones (finale at Hartford 8-8-99 is still king). Typical was a perfect follower, although nothing too special. Once again, Hartford 8-8-99 takes the cake; the upbeat jam in the middle was no surprise, but it was fun to watch others' reactions. Grey Street was a treat, although I was hoping for JTR. Maybe tonite. LIOG was like a second wind for the band; they seemed to find a lil more energy during this song and they continued it throughout the rest of the nite. Boyd's 8 min. solo wasn't his best, but it's always good. Too Much kept the crowd up and enabled all the radio fans to start singing again (great). Bartender is so much better with the band. That's all I have to say about that. Then Dave came to the mic and mentioned somethin about a jimi song. I guess most people didn't hear him cuz Dave didn't get much of a reaction. The song itself was pretty standard; very similar to 8-8-99 and Listener Supported. As for Tripping Billies... let me just say I think the song finally woke up whoever was controlling the lighting. The crowd was totally into it, sensing it was the last song before the encore. Not sure about this, but Dave changed up the words a bit (maybe) or just messed up a lil (more likely). It didn't detract from the song, though, and the entire place was in unison at the end. To hear more than 10,000 people all singing Eat, drink and be merry is something I will never forget. Definitely the best Tripping I've ever seen. As for the encore... I heard a rumor 40 might be on the new album since it's so popular at shows. I was kinda hopin that'd be the 1st encore, but Digging a Ditch was good. Kinda mellow with some fast parts. It served its purpose as it set the stage for Two Step. Stefan's solo was tight and Dave's lil poem before the Hey my love was nice. He changes it up every time, I guess, cuz it was diff. than 8-8-99 and Listener Supported. One of my fav songs, it was the first time I'd seen it as an encore. I saw some people LEAVING during the song. Unfuckinbelievable. I suppose they wanted to beat the hellish parking lot traffic, but Two Step as a finale was totally worth sittin in an hour of traffic. May very well be the best concert I've ever seen. The setlist is definitely supreme, even though it was pretty obvious they'd play mostly old stuff with a few new songs thrown in (DDTW was only song off BTCS). Tonite I'm expectin some newer stuff (Dreaming Tree pleez). See y'all there.

Dave, the Openeing show...what can i say, AMAZING!! The best song by far was LIOG. The sun had just set, everybody had their ligheters up, singing along.Still gives me chills. Jam session was awesome, a long one too. Jimi Thing got the crowd going also. They left the stage and the crowd was going crazy. They were banging on the Seats in the pavillion, screaming DAVE, DAVE, DAVE!! Finially he came back out, with an amazing encore. Two step, what a way to end the night. Amazing version, and most people stayed till the very end, despite the horrible parking. GREAT openeing show to start the summer tour, best one i've been to yet. WAY to go !!!
