The show was the best one I have been to yet... that's probably because my girlfriend was with me, and we had 7th row seats!! (Section C, Row G) It was awesome. I spoke to Victor Wooten (he remembered me from the Town Point Park Jazz Festival!), and I spoke to Stuart, the bassist from Agents of Good Roots. He was real surprised to be recognized, I have a feeling! The drum solo before Say Goodbye was just amazing. Carter, you deserved those Modern Drummer awards! #41 was on par, w/ some ad libs... Say Goodbye had its share of ad libs, also. I can't put a name on the ????? song... some of you "more experienced" nancies may be able to name this one. Crash Into Me got a big response, as expected. Minarets had the RAP!!!! I couldn't believe it! It was the first time I had heard that live... totally amazing! Dave has some awesome vocal things happenin'. Lover Lay Down... my girlfriend just melted in my arms! So, so sweet... Beautiful. They played the SMTS --> Too Much jam. Phat as always. Bela helped out on this one. A few mistkes, but they just laughed at it and kept on jammin'. It was cool. Dave would just look and give a big grin. One thing I noticed... no flames, please! Boyd seemed to be a little off. He lost the beat a few times in his solos. I hope he improves... he has been away for awhile, so we'l forgive him! No musician can have a perfect performance every time (*I* of all people should know!) :) Well, I must say my favorite song of the night was Lover Lay Down. It was so beautiful. I never realized how pretty this song was, until my girlfriend, in my arms, looked me in the eyes, and we kissed... it was beautiful. It was an awesome concert! I've been to the past two NYE shows, and have some tapes... for me, it was better than any of those!

Ok let em start off by saying it was F**KING COLD in the lawn. Rain and seeing your breath are not good things to be out in at the same time. As for the show. I lost feeling in my fingers before DMB even came on!). Seemed to me that the setlist was set up to put Bela in on the end of the show. Fast songs at the end so that he could jam with the boys. Roi was really getting into his solos. Pretty varied some slow mellow stuff some "squalking". Bela's banjo was turned up some this time so you could hear him better that on the NYE run. Overall a pretty good show. Boyd did miss a couple of times when he was reentering the song from his solos a couple of times. Nothing major. Bela's opening set was short. Good set though. The new guy they have didn't impress me as much as the Paul from the NYE run, but it is early. THe lights have been really changed. Very nice. THey added alot of strobes on the crowd. Many more onstage lights (moblie ones in the front of stage, up on the booms, etc.) The backdrop is really cool. Don't want to ruin it but it is really cool. Spotlighting is done from on stage lighting. No more house spotlights? Light shows is really good.

The band started out the '97 tour in its home town. They played for over 3 hours non-stop! They started out with the 'old' stuff, and went to the radio hits and the home town favorites. The encore was 'Tripping Billies (of course in Richmond)' and my personal favorite 'Dancing Nancies.' The band was in a great mood and delivered a great performance. Perhaps the best I've seen in my many years of following them at the Flood Zone! New stage, new lights, new everything. It great to see them having a good time playing what they want instead of supporting a CD. Come back soon Dave!!

Let me just say it was very wet, plenty of mud and quite chilly. The band seemed in good spirits throughout the show, dave was dancing a great deal and boyd was just jamming as hard as possible, they were fun to watch. Carter, is incredible. I wish he was more visible, however, the cameras made it easy to see his major contributions to the band. The setlist seemed to focus on slow songs at the beginning and then turned toward the more up tempo stuff. Lie In Our Graves is incredible with Bela Fleck, that was my favorite song of the night. Bela like Tim, adds so much to the bands music. The new backdrop is so much better than last tour, I am sure that everyone will love it. They also added a lot of dry-ice or fog to the preformance. At times, the fog completly consumed the band, which I think might just be a first show kind of glitch. I dont think that was intended. As for other things: For those of you who have been waiting for TOUR Shirts ,well, they are here. Summer tour shirts and about three others with new designs. Thats just a little side info. Overall, I would have to say it was VERY similar to the last tour. Similar setlist, so if you liked the Crash release you will enjoy this tour. Not as much old stuff as I would have liked, but thats ok. I would really liked to have heard a new song, but no luck there either. Maybe down the road some new stuff will pop up. Finally, let me just say that if your planning to see DMB on the Bela Fleck leg of the tour get there early and check those guys out, they are well worth it. Enjoy the show, and be sure to send in a review!
