Great show. The Flecktones got things off to a great start, I was very impressed with Jeff Coffin. I was also pleasantly surprised to hear Warehouse as the opener. #41 and Say Goodbye were the usual, but Dave sort of stumbled through Crash Into Me. He sang the second verse twice by accident and the timing was not right. He did sing the "I'm the king of the castle..." part, but not the "I watch you there..." part. He also did the Dixie Chicken outro. Stefan had a little solo in Recently, and For The Beauty of Wynona was very good. Jimi Thing ended with a long jam instead of What Will Become Of Me(Us)? Seek Up was really great, it must have been at least 15 minutes. I was hoping to hear some new songs, but I can't really complain about the setlist, it was good. They also played some background music as the crowd chanted "Let's Go Flyers." All in all it was an excellent show (aren't they all??). Peace.

(be aware I'm gonna complain a little. I understand the whole deal with it's early in the tour, blah blah blah, but I'm not gonna see them again this tour so I figure I have the right :) ) Well first I'll say that I had a lot of fun at this show. After downing several of the Jack Daniels Cocktails (I showed the guy my library card as ID :) ) I was in my groove. Bela Fleck and his boys rocked and I think the crowd was very appreciative of them. The last show I was at there were people yelling "sit the f--k down" to them so anything would be a vast improvement though. I'm so psyched to see them in October. Warehouse - Ask my friends, I was going nuts. This is my favorite song and I was doubting it would even show up in the set, let alone the opener. However, it was a straight album version. Virtually no jam and I thought they played it too slow. This is such an emotional song and Dave and the boys sounded somewhat bored. It was still nice to hear it show up though. #41--->Say Goodbye - Same deal. Basically album versions. They still rocked though. Say Goodbye had album lyrics except for the typical "drink some wine, we will get high" line. The lights seemed in sync on the high notes of 41. Maybe they've gotten the act down by now. Crash Into Me - Oh, well, what can you do? People like the song, he has to play it. It was good. Recently - Finally a jam song. But where was the jam? Of course they had the middle section where they go back and forth between each band member, then a beat, solo, then two beats, etc. But Stefan didn't get any showcasing in this song and the jam at the end was flat. 9 mins is long but not for Recently live. Wynona - Can't comment, I haven't heard it enough yet. Jimi Thing - Finally. This is the band I love. Went nuts! I loved the jam and the boys did a beautiful job on this song. Lie In Our Graves - Enter Bela, exit Leroi? AHhhhhh! I couldn't believe it when someone posted it the other day. He didn't just not play, he left the friggin stage. What? Is he unhappy with something. Could he feel upstaged by Bela? I just have trouble believing it. Bela was great though, they played this song very well, but again, basically the album version. Dave did not sing "and we danced away" (or whatever it is at the end.) Let's Go Flyers Jam wasn't a song, it was just the band absentmindedly playing while the crowd chanted. Seek Up - All I can say is wow. The crowd settled down and they just played this amazingly beautiful long extended song. The buildup to "Seek up an emotion..." was simply amazing. Bela was great. Everything single thing about this song was perfect. Let's hope this one stays in the sets all summer. Two Step - Did I call this one or what? Nearing the end of Seek Up, my friend Bill, a fellow nancie, turns to me and asks what I think they'll play next. I say I see a Two Step coming. Whaddya know! Again good, very albumish. What did this song lose though? I've been trying to figure out what makes this song so different now than it was 4 years ago, and I can't except now it's just a good song as opposed to the amazing version of old. It used to be, well you all know. :) Ants Marching - Cool. I liked it not as a closer and they played a good version of it. Typical Situation - Again very nice. They played the middle section with that weird violin plucking part. Not new but I think most of the crowd thought they were gonna go into a different song. Sounded very nice. SMTS--->Bridge--->Too Much - I'll admit, it is a great closer. Crowd went nuts. E: Tripping Billies - Called this one too. How could they not play it? It was really nice to hear the Nature intro even if the crowd had no idea what it was. I like Billies as a closer except it's so short. Misc: -Lighting looked nice. I like the new star backdrop and the strobe. -Before the show, they played the Maker over the PA really low. -I saw one Nancie. Hi Karen. -I think I hate all my stupid friends now. The spoiled brats were actually grinding during Jimi Thing. They sat most of the show and talked. They could have had just as much fun at someone's house. I officially apologize to all you Nancies who would have enjoyed the concert but couldn't get tickets because of my friends. -While I really enjoyed the concert, after the night before, the setlist was a dissappointment. -Ha, ha. Someone guy was leaning on his horn in the parking lot for an hour and then he got a flat. Serves him right. I think if Philly is the city of brotherly love, Camden is the city of broken glass. -One last thing, I saw _15_ stands. Count them, 15, people taped the show. Amazing!

What a great show! I was lovin' every minute of it. We had two groups of seats, one in 201 and one in 104, so we all got to move down, and noone near us minded. Warehouse: I'm not nuts about this one as an opener 41: I was looking forward to this one, Dave was right on with the singing Say Goodbye: good drum solo, Dave kinda mubmled Crash: more Dave mumbling Recently: good, but they could've jammed more Wyona: was this a cover song? I'd never heard it before, not bad tho. Jimi Thing: wow! what a jam! you could really tell that the boys have been getting some lessons from Fleck about jammin...Stefan had a neat little Wooten-esque bass solo, and I even think I heard Dave do a little solo! One of my fav. DMB jams of all time LIOG: Ok, what's up with Roi? where'd he go? Belas solo was mediocre Seek Up: anonther wower! I was very impressed here. Two Step: Powerful, especially with the bass. You could tell this one was coming when Dave turned to Boyd and made strumming motions at him. Ants: what? it's too early for a closer! Good version, the haus was rockin Typical Situation: I don't really care for the jam they do with this one it departs from the song way too much. SMTS --> Anyone Seen the Bridge --> 2Much: Excellent...when I heard Carter pick up the beat after the last "little baby" I went NUTS, The whole place rocked to Stefans booms, and Dave had some funky chords goin on. Nature --> Billies: I was hoping he'd sing for nature, but oh well. Still a great version. The Flecktones opener was great...I can't get enough of that trio, I saw them @ the Berks Jazz Fest and after that I couldn't wait to see them again. They could've headlined their own tour for sure but I think its so cool that they go around with DMB. Was Roi upset or something over Bela? He left the stage alltogether! Weird...A few things I was really hoping for but didnt get :( - One Sweet World opener -#41 with Victor Wooten -Minarets -WATCHTOWER as the encore....I love that song, best ever written by anyone.

If the setlist were all you knew about the DMB show in Camden last night, you might think ho-hum. You would have been wrong. Only one "new" song and that was a cover, but to my ear there was something different about several of the oldies, esp. Jimi Thing and Seek Up. What stood out to me... _The beat_ The tempo of Warehouse and Billies in particular seemed a tad slower, much to my liking. They didn't drag, just sounded more soulful. The show as a whole was not as frenetic as some. No shortage of energy, however. Bela's presence on four songs drove a certain bouncy cadence that isn't there w/o him. _Leroi_ Unmistakably present!! His jam in Seek Up was lovely and incredibly long. Still wears cement shoes while playing, however. _Dave's voice_ A bit raspy, but strong. No cold-and-flu season or Joe Cocker apologies. No audience reprimands. Little Davespeak at all, except for a funny Greenpeace pitch. _Seek Up_ I, who have said they could do this in their sleep, hereby eat my words. This was a clearly a different take on an ageless piece of music. The presence of Bela made a subtle but definite dent, and there was much more and richer violin at the end, taking up some of the space that would have been Dave's wailing. I love the wailing, but the violin was great and gave the voice a rest. _Jimi Thing_ An elongated, very thoughtful jam. I can never get tired of this one. _Beauty of Wynona_ Dark is the word. And haunting. Some Halloweenish angst-ridden vocals. Melodic and fully formed. I like it. _No Satellite or Watchtower_ Better uses of time... _The crowd_ Must give credit where due. This was the most appreciative, civilized audience I've ever been part of at a Dave show, including Dave and Tim shows. Very tight security accounts for the absence of crowd surfing, but I didn't even hear the teenybopper mating calls to Dave. Moreover, everyone knew every song, except Wynona of course, and moved with the music accordingly. Thanks to the two blonde girls in Sec. 202 Row S, dead center, for the beautiful dance show. Overall, a more mature sound, and what's wrong with that - due to a band that knows itself well and the upside of doing the same songs over and over, adding layers and texture and new riffs with each exposure. This tour is *not* like any before. It is its own, and this is the tip of the iceberg, folks. Couldn't imagine a better night of music anywhere on the planet.

Great show!!! This is my third concert and I have about 25 tapes, and this ranks second to 3/23/93 as the best show I've ever heard. The setlist itself may look pretty weak, but the music was nothing short of amazing. On to the set: Warehouse: We had lawn seats...so we got there early so we had the best seats on the lawn, but for Warehouse, my girlfriend had friends with 5th row tickets which she gave to us for this song. The start/stop beginning is always cool, and the song was played with mediocre feeling. Nothing too special, but a neat way to start. #41: Back to lawn. This is one of my favorites, but they stuck to the album. Oh well, still a nice treat. Say Goodbye: Another album song. The drums always amaze me. Carter is the man. Crash Into Me: I was not really into the song. They repeated the second verse, which was kind of funny, to me at least. I liked how they got the dixie chicken in. The crowd seemed to love "king of the castle..." Recently: I was pretty disappointed they didn't put any extras in (Broadway, Some people do...) but the jams were really great. I have to give a lot of credit to Roi. He can carry a song. Wynona: I really liked this song...it has definite ability to make the next album, possibly a single. Emotionally sung. Jimi Thing: One of my favorites of the night. Must of lasted at least 15 minutes. The jam was really great, the crowd was into the music, not saying "move on the Ants Marching". I think they forgot the third verse, but it didn't hurt the song. Lie in our Graves: Bela made this song. I have a whole new appreciation of the song. Again, the jam in the middle made this song great. Seek Up: I'm mad at myself. I went to get a drink (so thirsty), so I missed the words part and the wailing (doh!), but i caught the beginning and the end jams. They were cool. Two Step: Not impressed much by this. Closest to the album than any time I've ever heard it. Ants Marching: First time I ever heard an extended jam in the middle of this song...a real crowd pleaser. Carter was amazing. Typical Situation: My favorite of the night. I liked the funky jam in the middle, though I thought they were going to go into Too Much, but I was wrong. Powerful singing and playing. SMTS --> Too Much: not my favorites, but it was a treat to see Stefan out there jamming so much. He was out furthur than dave on SMTS. The segue into Too Much was really cool...and I was one of the only around which knew what they were doing. Tripping Billies: could have been a better encore, I was hoping for DIDO. Another crowd pleaser. Special Thanks to the crowd. They were the best I've seen at any show.

Although it is always awesome to see the band live and I had a great time, I really have to admit...I thought this show was good, but average. Fairly standard setlist at this one. Maybe I have just become incredibly jaded, but I didn't feel the energy that night too much (or maybe my senses were way too dulled due to intoxication =)). The show was 15 songs all together, including the encore. Aren't band shows usually 15 for the set, and two for the encore? I was a little disappointed by that, and by the fact that it was only one encore as well. Recently was without intros and outros. But, Warehouse was a pleasant surprise as an opener. I was happy to hear Crash with the Dixie outro. LIOG was very nice with Bela. I think the highlight of my night, though, was definitely Seek Up. Seek Up was amazing! The Lanois cover was very haunting and compelling; I liked that a lot. Two Step and Typical were pretty good. But I still think that the band wasn't as powerful as I've seen them before. They absolutely played a musically sound show (though not as tight as they usually are, probably due to just having gotten back on the road together for the first time in months), but I felt that they weren't as into it as they could have been. (Could I have been lost somewhere in Camden...or parked around Rocky's car?!)

Rocky, I swear I couldn't find your car. It was impossible! It was so crowded, and there must have been ten different lots. We really tried though. We looked for candy necklaces all night, we stopped at all the cars around us with balloons, and got weird looks when we asked some girls wearing candy necklaces (who just happened to be wearing them that night too) if they were nancies. They either replied, "You mean, a dancing nancy?", or my personal favorite, "No, I'm Sara." But thank God Laura (PNC, here we come, and letter to you soon) told me she and her party were in the last row of reserved seating! So at least we were able to find some nancies. It was very nice meeting you Tana and Tom (by the way, he says hello, Chrissy--blah, steak). And Bill, kudos to you for spotting Debbie's candy necklace!
