Food & Wine Features Dave

The October issue of Food & Wine Magazine features an article about Dave Matthews' turn towards farming in recent years. In addition to the vineyard that he established a few years ago (see our 2002 review for more), Blenheim Vineyards, they discuss his two-year-old organic farm, Maple Hill, which sells food under the Best of What's Around label. The farm has been established on 1,261 acres of land that Matthews bought from the University of Virginia in 2002, after the land was donated to the school by billionaire John Kluge in 2001. He purchased the land in order to prevent it from being sold to developers and keep it in agricultural use. Food & Wine offers an interesting overview of Matthews newfound interest in organic farming and good food.
