Tripping Billies
So Much To Say (Anyone Seen The Bridge?) -->
Too Much
Crash Into Me
Ants Marching

I watched Farm Aid on TNN, but I wasn't there. TNN cut out almost all of Tripping Billies, and some Crash and Too Much. That sucks. Anyways, I think Leroi has lost weight. It kind of looked like he was wearing a dress, but he looked thinner than I have seen. He played great tonight. Everyone was very good, and dancing more than I have seen ever. Even Stefan and Roi were laughing and dancing. Two Step: The usual 97 opener. Started with dave and boyd, instead of just Boyd. The intro was cool, and the outro seemed a little shorter than usual, up until the final drum part, which seemed longer. Great energy. Boyd had some sound problems during his last solo. Billies: I didn't hear it-cut off. SMTS->ASTB->Too Much: SMTS was standard, and ASTB got the place psyched. Carter was great, and They had some really loud weird Wah-Wah thing going on. I think it was Stefan's bass, which was turned up too loud all night. Crash:Dave hands were giving him problems, so he played crash in a less strenous formation, and it sounded a little off, but cool. They ended it real short, I think because of dave's hand. Ants: Awesome. This made everything worth it. The opening with Dave and Stefan was awesome-stefan was great. Then Roi and Boyd, then  Roi. When dave got quiet to let the crowd sing, virtually no one sang, and he gave this look, like "What the hell?" It was funny. Boyd walked over to Roi for the end, and went nuts. Roi was laughing with him the whole time. Overall: Despite the sound problems and less than perfect setlist, it was great just to see everybody jamming. Ants was great, great, great. And Roi was amazing tonight.

Well, unlike Daniel, I was lucky enough to be at the concert, though I had lawn seats with some drunk assholes behind me screaming, "TURN IT UP!" about every three minutes. Anyway.  I was a little disappointed at the setlist...I mean, Crash is a good album, but I'd like to hear stuff from the others--or at least some different Crash songs. But the energy.  Oh, the energy.  Wow.  I saw DMB at Deer Creek (Indianapolis) this summer, and this six-song set blew away that concert.  Well, maybe not completely, but DAMN! was it good. Two Step simply busted ass.  Dave sang an extra first verse with Farm Aid-y lyrics, which was pretty cool.  Then the band got to steppin'.  They had the entire crowd up on its feet, more so than any other performer that night, which is pretty amazing.  Don't know what to say, really, about the opening--I was so excited that they were on stage I couldn't be objective.  I just danced and sang. And the reason, I think, that Dave's hand appeared to be troubling him is: some dumbass threw something up at the stage, and Dave batted it away.  Then he started to shake his hand as if to say, "Owie.  Not so good."  He continued to do that throughout the set. I don't remember any specifics about Tripping Billies, other than it was funky--I was dancing too much. SMTS into TM was expected and quite lovely, though the segue was shorter and less funky than I thought it would be.  However, it was still highly enjoyable.  When they got to the "people in every direction" part, Dave stopped singing and let the crowd take over that little section.  At first, it didn't seem that many were singing along, but if one listens to the tape of the concert, s/he might hear a crazy fan about 10 blankets back on the lawn singing her little heart out.... Crash was really pretty.  Not a whole lotta lighters up--which was kinda sad, because it's so darn neeto.  Dave seemed to forget the lyrics right before "Oh, I watch you there through the window and I stare...." and sorta mumbled something or other and sang the "bare boned and crazy.." part and some other ad lib stuff and then remembered himself and got back to business. AGM, the expected closer, rocked.  Dave shouted something about making it "realllllll long," so I was all excited, but it ended up being a rather medium length version.  Oh well.  It had the cool 1-2-1-2-1-3-1-3 progression of beats towards the end.  Can I be more vague?  It was high-octane-adrenalin stuff.  Dave and Boyd were facing each other, jammin' out, dancin' all over the place, so wonderful.  In agreement with Daniel, Dave danced a HELL of a lot last night.  Suh-wEEt!  He did some funny little dance while he was saying something about the Farm Aid cause--and I can't for the life of me remember exactly what he was saying, so if anyone out there knows what I'm talking about, let me know what he was saying.  Please.  :) I think I disagree with Daniel about Stefan's bass.  It may have been actually up too loud, but I liked it.  I sometimes can't hear it enough, and Stefan was gettin' down with the head bobs and funky lines.  Loved it. Carter Beauford on da drums! is all I have to say.  He is an amazing fellow. Roi, as always, played beautifully.  He had some really nice lines in there, they just carried and soared and all that cheesy stuff.  Damn good stuff. Check it out, Boyd.....  Holy shit, do I love that man.  His solos were super--I love that he loves to play. And Dave.  Dave was just fuuuunky.  He was shaking his shit all over the place, loving it, and he was great.  AS he was leaving the stage, he looked at the audience and put his hand over his heart and sorta patted it.  Ahhhh. All in all, I was enraptured by the experience.  It was a good concert by all the performers--except Billy Ray Cyrus, WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?--but DMB by far were the best.  I want to drop out of school and follow them.  Well, not really, but you all know what I mean.  The concert was fabulous.  I didn't ever want to hear music again, just so I could have that set as the last music I'd ever heard.  It was great.
