Crowd: Very loud and into the show at times, but rather disinterested, quite and seated during unfamiliar, quiter stuff . . . A broad mix of people. Taping: This was (I heard) the first show in GSAC's history where taping has been allowed. There were only 3 mic stands, one about 15 rows back, one about 20-25 (the one I came out of), and one on the lawn. I know some others taped without stands, perhaps b/c they weren't aware taping would be allowed. Comments: Opening with Tripping Billies got the show off to a _great_ start, with a whole lot of energy, and really kept the crowd excited through a great Seek Up. Recently was great, I was _so_ happy when Dave added in Broadway + Some Do/Don't . . . the only thing that could have made this better would have been a nice "pretty pretty girl" tacked onto the end . . . but I'll take what I can get. Played the new intro into Warehouse again, I think it may have been a bit different tonight but I'll have to check the tapes . . . Lie in Our Graves was again without Leroi's big solo. I don't like it nearly as much. Is Chicago/Is Not Chicago is the Soul Coughing song that Dave + Tim covered at UNH this February, it went alright. "Jeff Bagby's in the room . . . Michael McDonald is in the room . . ." Cry Freedom felt right at home as the first song of the encore (I felt it coming . . .) Also, the intro to Watchtower has been different the past few nights. At Jones Beach and last night Dave, instead of playing the strong bass notes of the song to begin, quietly strums the higher notes of the chords, and then Stefan begins a nice solo to introduce it. At Jones Beach and SPAC, Stefan used some distortion on his bass which, in my opinion, added a lot to his solos, but last night he chose not to use it. He did, however, use a slide for the beginning of his solo. Last night the solo wasn't as good as at Jones Beach (it was shorter last night, too) but I liked the song better overall. In the middle Leroi slowed it down nicely for quite a while and then led back into the loud part really well. All in all, I had a great show!
