I had the opportunity to go to the 30th and 31st show at Hampton. This was a cool show because DMB was just becoming a household name on MTV and 'Under the Table and Dreaming' was one of the biggest albums' of the year. Jerry Garcia had just died that summer and the press were touting them as the next coming. Soul Coughing was the opening band during this weekend. They were not really that well known other than the exposure they got when their video was shown on Beavis and Butthead. This was towards the end of the 'Under the Table' tour and in both shows Dave was letting people hear 'So Much to Say' and 'Eat too Much' which would end up on the next album. Hampton Roads native, Bruce Hornsby of 'Mandolin Rain' fame, also played in with the band during these shows. Being from that area, that show meant so much to us to see a local college band make it to the big time.
