This, like every other DMB show I have been too was a amazing. A great mix of old and new, there was something for every fan. The show started out like quite a rollercoaster ride, beginning strong with "What would you say," and then mellowing immediately for "Granny." "Grey Street" brought things back up to speed, and then kind of leveled out for "You Never Know." Despite the bad rap the stuff from "Everyday" gets, the selections from that album never seem to disappoint live. "I Did It," "So Right," "When the World Ends," and "If I had it All" all four showing plenty of energy. Now, I am used to hearing "Ants Marching" as an encore tune, so imagine my surprise when it dropped in at #6. I knew it had to only get better from there. And did it ever. "Pay For What You Get" and "Cry Freedom" were a nice throw back to the earlier stuff, and a bit unexpected. But, the real surprise treat for me was Crush, which I had never heard live before, and now can't wait for the next time. The rest of the concert was nothing to laugh at either. "Bartender" was awesome as usual, and seems to only get better each time I hear it (15+ minutes!!!). The crowd favorite "Jimi Thing" certainly brought down the house after only the first few notes. And was a fantastic follow-up (14+ minutes!). "Stay," the last song of the regular set, was in top form. As the final song left everyone wanting more, so did the band for almost 10 minutes, and who could blame them after a set like we had just heard. Encore tunes "Grace is Gone," and "What You Are" were a nice close to the night. Being my first outdoor show, this one certainly exceeded my expectations, and I know it won't be my last.

The band sure did have all it's stuff. The setlist isn't something that I would call extrodinary, with five songs from Everyday and all, but they jammed alot. Leroi went crazy on WWYS and Granny and Boyd took over the show during Ants Marching. He had so much intensity the whole show. Butch had a nice 4-5 min solo on Bartender which made my night. I was hoping to hear the "Some Devil" intro to WYA but Dave only recited the first line then went right into the song. Overall, it was not as good as last year's show at Sandstone.

Most energetic DMB show ever. Came right on 15 minutes after opener Red West left stage. Hit the crowd hard with opener WWYS, then right into Granny. Dave then rough and wild with Grey Street. The high point of the show was the 12 to 14 minute jams with Ants Marching, Crush, Bartender and Stay. The crowd often took "a breather" in sitting down during Cry Freedom, and Pay for what you get. Dave and the boys left the stage immediately after a good 13 minute jam session with Stay. The encore was rather long but the crowd never gave up chanting "We want Dave" and "Dave, Dave, Dave..." for a full 7 to 8 minutes. Stefan then proceeded to wow the crowd with a trippy steel guitar intro to Grace is Gone. Then one last rocker...Dave took the electric thinbody from a roadie and proceeded to jam the best version I've ever heard of a rockin What You Are...This was the best show I've EVER seen.

This eveining's show was one of the tightest shows the band has performed. Their set list included a good span of songs, ranging from Granny to If I Had It All to the rarely heard Pay for What You Get. This was a very good song live, and was even tastier since it hasn't been played by the band in half a decade. It was fun to watch Dave tonight as he really let loose; he was dancing, singing his soul out, and even did a little solo work on Jimi Thing. For their closer they performed a very high energy What You Are, including a tag at the end that Dave screams out. (It was along the lines of "Bow down all you mother____ers!) Boyd was very on tonight with his soloing tonight also; he was going crazy on every other song. This was definately a top notch show A+

A great night at Sandstone (I still refuse to call it Verizon Wireless) with The Band. Opening with **WHAT WOULD YOU SAY** got the crowd into it from the beginning (on 9.3.2002 the crowd seemed to have some trouble getting into it), and they were even more excited to hear **GRANNY** - everyone punched their fists into the air for "LOVE!" and "BABY!" This was the first time I've seen this one played (along with 5 others tonight!). Then Dave grabbed a 12-string and I called **GREY STREET** - what a fantastic song! I really like **YOU NEVER KNOW**, I think it has some great lines and some great music to it. Carter opened that one with the "extended rim intro". When the electric guitar came out I did not expect **I DID IT**. Come on everyone, this song is NOT as bad as everyone thinks. At least it isn't when it is played live. It was definitely not expected in a sort of ".or you could do THAT..." way, but it was performed well. **ANTS MARCHING** mid-set again (like 7.10.2003) was greatly appreciated. The crowd danced a lot to this one, but so did DAVE! They featured his feet on the video screens, so that help us dance too! **SO RIGHT** was another first for me. I've always liked this song, and it didn't seem too different from the album. A great treat for me was **CRY FREEDOM**. This rare song had already been played 7 times this tour, so I was glad to catch it (this was my last show of the tour). The crowd didn't seem to dig it too much, but they gave the band enough props for it. **CRUSH** was a crowd pleaser, nothing to mention about this one though. **IF I HAD IT ALL** was just like the album from what I heard. **PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET** was cool to see. Dave threw in a bit of Norwegian Wood in there, so that was fun, the crowd liked that. Next came like a 12-minute **BARTENDER** where Dave even stepped offstage for a bit to let The Band have their solos and such, but he first had a couple minutes of passionate vocals. Butch had a cool solo, and LeRoi had some fun playing a hint of "If I Only Had a Brain" from the Wizard of OZ). Jimi Thing was a crowd pleaser as well. I was hoping for more action from Dave on his acoustic, but I am satisfied with what I got. This song is a great jam. **WHEN THE WORLD ENDS** was pretty good. I think it's been played at almost every show this tour. It's good, but nothing special to report of comment on. The closer was **STAY**. I love this song. I really, really love this song. I liked hearing Carter fill in for the Lovely Ladies from behind his drum set. This song went for a while, which helped us all dance longer. The band left the stage for an 8 minute encore break (10:16-10:22) returning for Stefan to play a slide intro to **GRACE IS GONE**. This song was welcomed and done well as was the encore closer **WHAT YOU ARE**. I've grown to appreciate this song over the past year of hearing the live versions. It has been a frequent closer, but I think it fits fine as a closer, so I'm okay with it! Especially when Dave screams, "Now pray! Get down on your knees, Motha F**ker". All in all the night had a great assortment of songs. This is the first time in the past two years that the band hit Kansas City in the middle of the tour instead of at or near the end. This helped them be a little more alive and a little more aggressive with the setlist instead of just choosing crowd pleasers. Dave danced, Boyd and LeRoi wailed, Carter and Stefan thumped, and Butch brought some great aid to The Band. I also appreciated the diversity from the St. Louis show. It's almost like Dave read my review of last fall's KS show (9.3.2) and heard me complain about the similarity to StL (8.26.2). Well, that's enough from me.

First of all I had the best seat in the house section 3 row 1 seat 1(I was the guy who asked everyone in the parking lot if there seats were as good as mine) Solid show from the band, wasnt too happy with that many everyday songs, but so right is the best song of that album. Cry freedom didnt disappoint for the first time live. Pay for What you get was great again. WWYS is probably the best opener for a show in my opinon, but best of whats around would have been nice. Another highlight of the nite was meeting the infamous Wendy Lu. Could've played more songs from BTCS, (thats what everyone wants to hear) but like I said solid show. Adam, Eric, Joey, Ebert, Nick, and the substinator all agree. Thanks to the holiday inn express for letting us trash the place as well. Off to the east coast.

Hi yall. I just would like to share that this show was solid and took you everywhere. I definitely would like to get a copy of this show. Highlights for myself were Granny, Ants Marching, Cry Freedom, Crush, Bartender, Stay, and Grace is Gone. Granny was a pleasant surprise that got me grooving, a quality song. The show was vibing until DMB played Ants Marching and at that point, not only was I dancing fool, but it got the entire crowd jamming. Cry Freedom was a surprise. Crush was a treat. Bartender was a powerful song by the group. Stay is a great summer song, and that song reminds me of spring and summer everytime, driving with the windows down and jamming. We had a sweet little intro to Grace is Gone by Stefan on the steel guitar and Leroi was great to listen to. Fun show, looking forward to Selma.

Great show on a pretty hot day at Sandstone (I say we petition Verizon to change the name back, or at least something like "Verizon Wireless Sandstone Amp"). Was on the grass behind a group of royal jerks who did everything in their power to ruin the night for everyone else around us, but was happy to hear and see real Dave fans around us. Personally, I felt that despite an energetic open, my section of the crowd took a while to really get into it, and wasn't until Ants that they were really ready. Also really happy with a mid-set Ants, as much fun as it is I find it disapointing as a closer. Again - wished we could've replaced some Everyday with some BTCS, but the selections from Everyday were solid - even If I Had It All, which was my least favorite of them, turned out much better live than I had expected. I think that Dave should do two shows in KC next year definatly, we'd sell out Sandstone 5 times over if we had the chance.

Looking at this concert in the context of the rest of the tour, it was mildly disappointing. But look at this compared to the past two shows the Band has played at KC and you see that we've gotten EVERYTHING! 2000 was heavy on the LS and UTTAD, 2002 was heavy on BTCS, and this year was back to UTTAD and ED. Although not a big ED fan, I enjoyed all the songs but I Did It, and WYA was a...tolerable closer. The set list was definitely missing some other songs that have been played consistantly on this tour, but the energy was high and the solos were right on tonight. The jams on Crush and Bartender were very well done and the jam on Jimi Thing was unparelled. Not the best show ever, but definitely a good one.

This is the first Dave concert I have ever seen, but you can bet your sweet ass it will not be the last! I heard negative comments about the Bonner Springs venue from people who attended last year, but he sure the hell made up for a bad performance last year with an awesome performance this year. WWYS was an awesome song to begin the concert with and hearing Jimi Thing live made my year. The "true" Dave fans up front were singing every chorus to every song at the top of their lungs and the dynamic of the crowd was breathtaking. A+++++++++++++++++. I hope Dallas is remotely as good as Bonner Springs because the crowd's energy (Dave's too) were irreplaceable. See you in Dallas DAVE
